Timofey Yuriev and his wife, Melissa, decided to go hiking with Kira, their Golden Retriever. They went to Irvington Woods via the Peter Oley Trail System. While on the hike, they saw that there were two dogs who were stuck in a frozen lake. Timofey and the Golden Retriever leaped into action to save the two doggos.
Timofey stripped and went right into the freezing water and worked his way to get to the dogs who were surely shivering. Kira was right with him. Timofey had to break through the ice to be able to pave a path towards the dogs in distress.
In his childhood in Kazakhstan, Timofey got swimming lessons from his grandfather. They had the lessons in freezing water so this situation is not entirely new for Timofey.
When they got to the first dog, they helped him get back safely on shore. Melissa took the dog and tried to dry him and keep him warm.
Timofey and Kira had one more dog to save so they jumped right back into the cold water. When they got to the last dog in the water, they all went back to the shore.
The dogs’ owner was in the area and she said that they were just out on a walk. She was surprised when the two dogs started to go on a different path and found themselves right in the cold lake.
Melissa was able to record the whole thing which she, later on, shared on her account on social media. She is proud to have a husband who is ready to help rescue those dogs. She is also proud to have Kira who stayed by her husband’s side to help.
The dogs’ owner was relieved when they were rescued. She says that she is very thankful that Timofey, Melissa, and Kira were there on that day.
