Rescuing a stray dog can become more difficult when there are puppies involved. A dog who had just given birth is very protective, making them stubborn as well. Fortunately, they are not impossible to win over as long as their puppies are safe.
An animal rescue organization called Hope For Paws went on a mission to retrieve a stray female labrador. This dog was hiding inside a large pile of branches from dead trees. The location made her hard to spot, but the rescuers were determined to spot her.
Once the rescuers found the dog, they lured her out with a burger. The labrador was obviously hungry, so she couldn’t resist what was in front of her. While she was approaching the food, the rescuers slipped a leash on her.
Once the dog was on the leash, the rescuers started reaching for the puppies. While that was happening, another rescuer was petting the dog to keep her calm. The dog’s eyes showed fear and anxiety towards the situation. Fortunately, when she saw her puppies were safe, she became more at ease.
After three puppies were placed in a kennel, the labrador followed the rescuer’s lead. Then four other puppies were recovered from the dog’s makeshift nest. During the transportation, the dog and her puppies were put on the back of the car.
Fast forward to three weeks, the puppies have grown big enough to allow them to get adopted. All of them found got into a good home with loving owners. Of course, the mother dog also got adopted along with some of the puppies. Usually, each dog gets separated, but sometimes they get adopted together.
The rescue team from hope for paws displayed a good grasp of how to treat stray mother dogs. They knew what to do in tricky situations. More importantly, they conducted the rescue mission with great consideration for the dog’s emotions.
