Puppies need to spend at least eight weeks with their mom before they are made available for adoption. The eight-week period is a crucial developmental stage of a puppy’s life where they learn the skills to survive from their mother. They also get the nutrition they need and develop their immune system from the milk they get from their mother.
In Crete, a woman found two puppies that were too young to be separated from their mom. They were drenched and shivering in the rain and were abandoned in a place where they can’t easily be found. There were no signs of a mama dog around and the woman knew that if she didn’t do something, the puppies would surely die from starvation or exposure.
The kindhearted woman contacted a local animal rescue organization called Takis Shelter. The founder of the organization, Theoklitos Proestakis, immediately responded and drove to where the puppies were found. He’s also very thankful that the woman who found the puppies called him for help.
Soon after Theoklitos rescued the puppies, he took them back to his facility where they were given food and shelter. Takis Shelter takes care of over 350 animals, which meant that the puppies have no shortage of dogs to make friends and play with. All of the dogs are free to explore the huge fenced-in property and they’re all very happy whenever Theoklitos is around.
Most of the animals in Takis Shelter are available for adoption. Since Takis Shelter was established, Theoklitos has successfully rescued countless dogs. He also found forever homes for so many of them, thanks to his hard work.
The two adorable puppies are now safe and happily living in Takis Shelter. Thanks to Theoklitos and the kindhearted woman who found them, they are now getting a chance to find a forever home and get adopted by a loving family. Here’s a video featuring their rescue.
