Although dogs are resilient creatures, they’re still domesticated animals that need humans to survive. Dogs can’t live by themselves and when they get injured, they need humans to help them recover.
Imagine what life would be like for stray dogs that get injured. Sometimes, their injuries don’t heal properly, and they’re forced to live in pain for the rest of their lives.
A stray dog named Polly had been living on a construction site for six months. Polly managed to survive thanks to a construction worker named Daniel who gave her food and clean water. Daniel did attempt to rescue Polly but she was very cautious and would run away every time he approached her.
Daniel called several animal rescue organizations to help him rescue Polly but she kept running away. Even Daniel had a hard time winning Polly’s trust despite feeding her and showing her kindness. He was afraid that Polly would get left behind once construction was finished and he was no longer there to look after her.
Eventually, Daniel decided to reach out to an animal rescue organization called Hope For Paws. The founder and rescuer from Hope For Paws, Eldad Hagar, immediately drove to the construction site with his fellow rescuer and volunteer, Loreta. They both spent hours trying to find and catch Polly at the expansive construction site, which was also full of hazards.
Rescuing Polly was anything but easy. However, Eldad and Loreta were persistent and never gave up. They knew that they had to get Polly out of the construction site since it was full of dangerous things that can potentially injure or kill her. Eldad and Loreta tried everything to catch Polly. It took Eldad and Loreta a few hours to catch Polly.
Soon after catching Polly, they rushed her to a veterinary clinic in Los Angeles where she was examined and treated. Loreta carefully trimmed down her matted fur and gave her a much-needed bath before getting examined by the veterinarian. They found out that she had been living with two broken ribs. It wasn’t clear how she broke her ribs but Eldad and Loreta knew she was finally going to heal and find a new forever home.
Polly went to a foster home where she was taken care of by an amazing person. She quickly learned to trust humans again and recovered from her injuries. Here’s a video featuring Polly’s rescue and transformation.
