Golden retrievers have a reputation for being warm and friendly. They will do a lot of things to please their humans and make them smile. This is why they make good companions.
There are a lot of heartwarming stories about how good golden retrievers are. Other than being friendly with other species, they also have a great sense of duty; they are often used for rescue and retrieval operations.
One story proves just that. A golden retriever was named a hero after he saved the life of an abandoned baby koala. The five-year-old golden retriever named Asha was found with a koala joey cuddle in her fur.
Warmth in the cold season
Kerry McKinnon, Asha’s owner, was very proud of her dog’s heroic deed. She said that the baby koala might have been separated from its mom the night before, and it just happened to wander onto her home’s deck.
Finding Asha might have been a relief for the koala, as the temperatures in the area would usually drop to 5C. If the koala had not found Asha, it would not have survived.
It was early in the morning when Kerry’s husband called her, asking her that there was something that she had to see. Kerry was confused at first, but then she saw the little koala resting cozily on top of Asha.
It seemed to Kerry that Asha was confused of what was happening. Nevertheless, she just let the koala rest on her fur.
The little joey is doing well
Nobody exactly knew how the koala found Asha. Despite that, it was nice knowing that the koala had found Asha. And though Asha might have been skeptical at first, she had definitely saved the koala’s life.
Kerry confirmed that the little joey is in good condition. A veterinarian already checked him up. The koala is now being taken care of a koala carer until it is ready to go back into the wild.
