Josh Dolan and Jenn Stribl received an email from a woman who breeds mini show horses. The breeder told The Peeps Foundation workers that one of the newborn calves was born with dwarfism and the mama horse rejected the poor calf right away.
The breeder immediately asked Josh and Jenn if they could take the dwarf horse with them. The woman admitted that they could not care for the poor calf, so she called them for help.

Josh and Jenn agreed and immediately drove off to pick up the dwarf horse they named Chanel. Josh said that nobody in his team knew how big Chanel was, but he admitted that seeing Chanel for the first time felt surreal.
Josh said that Chanel looked so tiny and fragile. Jenn shared that Chanel lived in their kitchen, and she and her colleagues took turns giving Chanel her bottle every two hours.
Josh admitted that he was not sure if Chanel would make it because Chanel had many health problems, and her legs did not look good. However, Josh and Jenn’s Golden Retriever, Huckleberry, made sure that he is there to help Chanel every step of the way.
Josh shared that Huckleberry is sweet and nurturing towards Chanel. Huckleberry immediately acted like Chanel’s big brother from the moment they met.
Josh shared that Huckleberry always followed Chanel around. Josh said that Chanel, on the other hand, would lay beside Huckleberry whenever they are out in the yard during afternoons.
Josh shared that Huckleberry was always guiding Chanel and keeping the mini horse going. Josh said that Huckleberry and Chanel were inseparable and followed one another like they were each other’s shadow.
Jenn shared how happy she was that Chanel’s health eventually improved, and she even learned how to trot like an average horse. Josh and Jenn said that they are pleased with Huckleberry and Chanel’s odd yet unique friendship.
