It seems that providing a solution to the ever-increasing number of homeless dogs is an impossible task. Because of this, many shelters have resorted to euthanasia. They think that dog culling would be the best solution. But it’s just a cruel answer to a problem that could be fixed by being responsible dog owners.
It’s just so inhuman to keep on relying on this method.
Five minutes away
Thankfully though, some dogs are able to get a second chance in life. Just like Robin. He was a stray dog that was picked up by animal control officers. He was then brought to a high-kill shelter.
When they found the homeless pooch, he was limping because of a leg injury. Because of this, he was immediately put on the kill list. They think because of the injury, no one would come in and adopt him. They didn’t want to use their limited space and resources on him.
Fortunately for him, just before he was about to be put down, a nonprofit animal welfare group called Vet Ranch, stepped in and saved his life. If they were five minutes late, Robin would have been gone.
The dog was then taken to an animal clinic where they looked closer at his injured leg. They took several x-rays and they learned that his leg wasn’t even broken at all. It was bruised but it wasn’t that serious. With some rest and time, the injury will heal itself. He was about to die for a bruised leg.
Grateful
What was so adorable was the way Robin reacted to the people that helped him. While one of the vets was discussing in a video the treatments that he would receive, the dog leaned into her and hugged the kind doctor. It seemed that Robin knew that she was responsible for saving him and now she is helping to get him better.
The grateful pooch is now well on his way to a brighter future. His life is not in danger anymore and there is a family out there ready to provide Robin all the care and affection that he needs.
