A few years back, this small and white dog named Delilah experienced abuse at the hands of her previous owners. The abuse she experienced could have killed the poor dog. Fortunately, the Mr. Mo Project stepped in and gave the dog a safe place to heal.
Mariesa Hughes and her husband, Chris, were the architect behind this idea to save senior dogs. The couple started this initiative back in 2018 and right now, they are already home to dozens of dogs.
Although Delilah is not yet a senior dog, the couple did not think twice about helping the dog. This is because they both know that no other people would help the dog other than them.
According to Mariesa, when Delilah got rescued, the poor dog was badly matted. She likewise had an infected foot due to the abuses she experienced in the past. Add to the dog’s problems was that her jaw got permanently crooked.
With the dog’s condition, the couple knows that Delilah never felt love and support at the hands of her former owners. But despite this, the dog never showed any untoward attitude, according to Mariesa.
Mariesa likewise mentioned that she could not fathom why a person could inflict such injuries on a defenseless dog. However, the foster fur parent does not want to delve into the past. Instead, she and her husband embraced the challenge of giving Delilah a better life.
Delilah’s injured leg was beyond repair, so it got amputated. Despite the situation, the cute dog managed to adjust right away when one less leg.
According to the couple, the dog’s positive attitude pushed them to love her even more. It was Delilah’s positive demeanor that pushes the couple to continue what they started. Right now, Delilah provides enough morale boost to the couple by giving them unlimited dog kisses.
