As an Animal Control officer in Brookhaven, Mississippi, Sharon Norton has had her heart broken multiple times already. She has witnessed numerous situations involving dogs that are really sad and gut-wrenching. And even though it seems that she would get used to it, Sharon is still shocked by how heartless and cruel some humans can be.
When she found an abandoned puppy, sitting on an armchair, waiting for his owner to come back, she couldn’t control her anger. She took photos of the pup and vented her anger on a post on Facebook.
She said that the pup was starving to death when she found him. The young pooch was afraid to leave the chair to find food. Sharon called the owner out and said that Karma will soon meet up with them.
Sharon learned about the poor pooch when a concerned citizen called their department. The caller said that he just saw a truck pull by the side of the road and drop off a broken TV, an old armchair, and a skinny puppy. The rescuer responded immediately.
She brought along some treats to get his trust. Then, she brought the puppy to the local shelter. They then named him Lazy Boy Gaston.
The animal control officer’s post quickly became viral. A lot of people really fell in love with Gaston. But the best thing that happened about the situation is that the manufacturer of La-Z-Boy heard about the rescue and decided to help out.
Not only did they donate 50 beds for the rescue dogs, but they also gave a large amount of money for the shelter. This will help not only Gaston but all other dogs that need to be rescued.
Gaston had a happy ending as well. A young couple saw the post and went in to adopt him. This time around, he will be in a home where he will be loved and adored.
